Structures and search area
Bedrock Edition isn't supported yet
Bedrock places structures and slime chunks differently from Java, so we don't show Java results for a Bedrock world. Bedrock support is coming. Switch to Java to use the map.

What is an end city?
An End city is a tall purpur tower complex in the End guarded by shulkers. Players hunt them for enchanted gear and for the elytra on End ships. 5 things to look for inside:
- Elytra in an item frame, only on End ships
- A dragon head on the bow of End ships
- Chests with enchanted iron and diamond tools, weapons and armor
- Spire armor trim templates
- Ender chests
Watch out: Many shulkers guard the towers, rooms and ships, and the tall towers have steep purpur-slab staircases.
Where end citys generate
End cities generate on the End’s outer islands, on large islands where chorus trees grow, in the End highlands and End midlands. You usually reach them through an End gateway after beating the Ender Dragon.
This is how the end citys in our test areas split between biomes:
| Biome | Share of end citys |
|---|---|
| End highlands | 84.4% |
| End midlands | 15.6% |
Measured with our engine on 10 test seeds, Java 1.21.1, in an area of 8,192 × 8,192 blocks around 0, 0 for each seed. Biome taken at the centre of each start chunk, at Y 64.
How far apart end citys are
The game splits the End into square regions of 20 × 20 chunks (320 × 320 blocks) and makes one attempt in each. Our test areas held about 655 regions each and between 52 and 71 end citys, so about 10% of regions got one.
| Measure | Closest seed | Median seed | Furthest seed |
|---|---|---|---|
| Nearest to 0, 0 (blocks) | 1,046 | 1,113 | 1,337 |
| Number in 8,192 × 8,192 blocks | 71 | 65 | 52 |
Engine results for the 10 test seeds, Java 1.21.1. Placement: 1 per 20 × 20 chunks.
The median is a typical seed. Yours can be much closer or further, which is why the finder lists results for your exact seed.
Tips for finding and exploring end citys
- Only some End cities have an End ship. The ship’s treasure room has the elytra and two chests.
- If the gateway drops you on a small island, build across, throw ender pearls, or fly to a big island.
- End cities follow a grid and can be far apart, so check the list for the nearest ones before you set off.
How to use the coordinates in game
- Press F3 to see your own X and Z in the End, then head towards the result’s X and Z. End citys are on the End outer islands.
- With cheats on, tap a marker or Copy and run
/tp @s X ~ Z; the~keeps your current height. - The coordinates are the north-west corner of the chunk the end city starts in, the same chunk
/locate structure minecraft:end_citypoints to.
Set “Search near” to your base or the map centre to list end citys around a different spot. To see end citys next to every other structure type, use the structure finder.
How accurate the end city finder is
We started a real Java 1.21.1 server for 10 test seeds. Our nearest end city to 0, 0 matched the game’s /locate on 10 of 10 seeds, and the game confirmed 50 of the 50 end citys we listed. Other versions haven’t been checked against the game yet.
Bedrock Edition: Java only for now
On Bedrock, the End midlands and highlands aren’t separate biomes; the whole End is one biome. A Java map would point you to the wrong places, so the finder doesn’t show Bedrock results yet.
