Bedrock places structures and slime chunks differently from Java, so we don't show Java results for a Bedrock world. Bedrock support is coming. Switch to Java to use the map.

What is a pillager outpost?
A pillager outpost is a dark oak watchtower camp full of pillagers. Players visit for the loot chest and to kill the captain, who drops an ominous bottle. 5 things to look for inside:
- A 4-storey watchtower with a loot chest on the top floor
- Crossbows and enchanted books in the chest
- Sentry armor trim templates
- A goat horn (50% chance)
- Cages that can hold an iron golem or allays
Watch out: Pillagers keep spawning around the tower, even while you are inside it. The pillager captain is there too.
Where pillager outposts generate
Pillager outposts generate on the surface in plains, desert, savanna, snowy plains, taiga, meadow, cherry grove, grove, snowy slopes and the three peak biomes. On Java they never generate inside or too close to villages.
This is how the pillager outposts in our test areas split between biomes:
| Biome | Share of pillager outposts |
|---|---|
| Plains | 34.6% |
| Savanna | 24.7% |
| Taiga | 8.6% |
| Snowy plains | 8.6% |
| Desert | 7.4% |
| Meadow | 2.5% |
| Grove | 2.5% |
| Jagged peaks | 1.2% |
| Cherry grove | 1.2% |
| Other biomes at the sampled point | 8.7% |
Measured with our engine on 10 test seeds, Java 1.21.1, in an area of 8,192 × 8,192 blocks around 0, 0 for each seed. Biome taken at the centre of each start chunk, at Y 64.
None of our test areas had one in: Snowy slopes, Frozen peaks, Stony peaks.
How far apart pillager outposts are
The game splits the Overworld into square regions of 32 × 32 chunks (512 × 512 blocks) and makes one attempt in each. Our test areas held about 256 regions each and between 4 and 12 pillager outposts, so about 3% of regions got one.

The median is a typical seed. Yours can be much closer or further, which is why the finder lists results for your exact seed.
Tips for finding and exploring pillager outposts
- Kill the captain for an ominous bottle. Drinking it gives Bad Omen, which can start a raid or make trial chambers harder.
- Pillagers respawn all the time, so grab the top-floor chest and move on quickly.
- Outposts are never right next to a village on Java, so look a little away from villages.
How to use the coordinates in game

How accurate the pillager outpost finder is
We started a real Java 1.21.1 server for 10 test seeds. Our nearest pillager outpost to 0, 0 matched the game’s /locate on 10 of 10 seeds, and the game confirmed 34 of the 34 pillager outposts we listed. Other versions haven’t been checked against the game yet.
Bedrock Edition: Java only for now
On Bedrock, outposts can generate close to or inside villages, so the pillagers can attack villagers. A Java map would point you to the wrong places, so the finder doesn’t show Bedrock results yet.
